Alan Piercy
Alan Piercy is a freelance writer with one foot and sizeable portions of his heart and soul firmly planted on both sides of the Carolinas. Piercy is a Columbia, South Carolina, native; a 1995 graduate of the University of South Carolina; and lifelong Gamecock fan.
He is the author of A Gamecock Odyssey: University of South Carolina Sports in the Independent Era, published by USC Press in 2023, and his Substack newsletter, South By Southeast, which features stories spanning decades of Gamecock athletics. Piercy hosts a collection of his general interest writings online at Yellow Dog Journal. His work has appeared in The State, the Charlotte Observer, Gamecock Central, Blue Ridge Outdoors, and Marathon & Beyond Magazine.
Since 2010, Piercy has lived in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife, Melissa and their rotten-to-the-core animals, lab-mix Ernie, and black cat, Eddie.
